The Search
Everybody is searching. The poor is searching. The rich is searching. The single is searching. The married is searching. The wise is searching. We spend our lives hopelessly searching. We search for what we think we want. And when we have what we want, we no longer want what we have. There is always some unsatisfactory and discontentment. What have achieved now becomes meaningless. We start searching again. We continue to search for happiness in money, power, prestige, love, God, meditation, inner peace. Everybody is searching and nobody knows exactly what for. How can we find what we are looking for if we don’t know what we are looking for?
It is as if there is a black hole in the human consciousness. Nothing seems to help toward its fulfillment. The very search has to be understood because the search doesn’t allow us to be here and now. It always leads us somewhere else. The search is a desire, an idea that what we are looking only exists in someone else and not in us. And we believe that if we keep on searching we will get it, but later on in our lives and not now. We tell ourselves maybe after we read one more book. Or maybe after we get another college degree. Or a better job that would give us more money.
Have you define your search lately? Do you know what you are searching for?

Mattew 7:7
We search, because it is the thing which draws us Forward–through life. We search, because it gives us a Horizon to head for, a star to plot a course by, and a Goal to keep in mind. There are always more Hozins ahead…more adventures to find, more people to meet, more stars to see glimmering over a unknown mountain range. That is the challenge and the beauty of Life. There is always more.
The need to search is not a negative, but rather a positive questing nature, which pulls us forward. Believe this.
I have stopped searching for Fiona; instead I’m waiting for her to search Shrekie out … lolz

if you pour water but theres no glass the water just falls through.
I’ve decided I need to give up searching for anything. I just want to accept things as they come.
Ah, my favorite topic. Yeah, I have defined the search, I have researched the search, I have acted on the search. So I guess I know what I have been searching for. Now, I am just sitting back and let things fall into place.
I can’t say I search for things in life. I like to live one day at time and let things come to me. But at the same time I don’t sit and waste time. I find that if I just go out, interact with others I always discover something new about me.
Hmm, is that searching? Hehe.
It seems like I’m always searching, yet finding very little. However, this might be a good thing considering all the things I’m searching for, and how - even though I’m searching for them – they might not be what I need to be finding.
Self-acceptance, self-love, self-respect. All those other things naturally follow once you achieve these.
Your post had me singing Survivor’s “The Search Is Over” song to myself! This topic usually results in tension between my wife and I. I criticize her tendency to, generally and typically, focus on everything that she does not have and then feel sorry for herself. For all of the reasons you so clearly capture in your post here, my own “search” is to discover what it is I already do have so that I can cherish and treasure that. It is not always easy. The desire to provide a better quality of life to my family can lead me to look beyond the boundaries that present circumstances impose. I will also from time to time catch myself wanting to play a bigger role, make a bigger contribution, have a greater impact than present circumstances allow. On these occasions all I need to do is remind myself that life would have unfolded just fine had I never been a part of it and will get along fine without me long after I am gone.
