  • It will be very enlightening to understand this letter written by Paddy to his beloved Maureen:

    My Darling Maureen,

I would climb the highest mountain for your sake, and swim the wildest sea.  I would endure any hardships to spend a moment by your side.

    Your ever-loving,

    Paddy

P.S.  I’ll be over to see you on Friday night if it is not raining.

When you say to someone “I love you,” have you ever thought what you mean?

  • that you care about them so much you will die forthem so they can be happy or keep on living.

  • Yes, many times, I said it b/c the girl wanted to hear it.  But never in Vietnamese, I haven’t said that to anyone in Vietnamese.  Not sure why.

  • Of course I have, but I am not sure many can climb the highest mountain or swim the wildest sea and survive to show their love.

  • That is so funny!!!
    I love you = I need you
    or
I love you = I need to use you to get something
    or
I love you = I feel good about myself when I’m with you
    or
I love you = I care about your well being
    or
I love you = I accept and love you just the way you are
    or
I love you = I am love, you are love, together or seperately, we are love

    so many variations………

  • i asked my bf that once…. “have you ever stopped and think when you say ‘i love you’ or does it just come out naturally?” Funny how we say things sometimes like a daily routine and the meaning is lost behind the sound.

  • Aw, that means SO much, but in essence:  “I would put your needs above my own.”    Nice post, as usual.

  • All the freakin’ time.  Which is why I never like using the word, or that sort of overblown, billowy language…

  • lol.. too funny…

I dont think we really know what it means to love sombody.. we always put conditions on it.

“I love you baby.. whats for dinner?”

  • Well, I may not climb the highest mountain, but I do change brush head on the electric toothbrush.

  • Like these other comments, I agree there are many types of love. I tell my puppy, “I love you,” expecting nothing in return. I tell my parents “I love you” just before I say goodbye. I guess I’ve never thought about what it means, but i do know that we need to tell it to each other more often.

RYC–I used to be a distance runner, but I’m sticking to 10Ks now.

  • I don’t say I love you to a lot of folks I do send love to people which to me is high good energy. I know what I mean when I say I love you, Judi
