  • Fear

When we treat Fear with a dose of Trust, we get Surrender as a side Effect.

Our desire to control life arises out of fear.  Our need to remember some past arises out of fear.  Our need to anticipate the future arises out of fear.  Our need for guarantees arises out of fear.  Our need to know that our spouse or significant other always love us exactly as s/he does now arises out of fear.  Jealousy arises out of fear.  Greed arises out of fear.

We do not control our life.  Fear controls our life.  We seek control, but ironically, we are controlled by the control we seek.  There is no way out of fear other than going through it.  If we run from our fear, it follows us.  If we hide from it, it finds us.

Going through our fear is letting go.  It reverses the energy flow.  Letting go means trusting ourselves, trusting life, trusting God.  In letting go, we are no longer the victim sitting back and waiting for fear to come and limit me.  We are reclaiming that space.  It is the space for our growth.  We surrender.

Surrender does not mean “give control to someone else.”  We do not surrender to another person.  That is preposterous.  That is not surrender.  Surrender is recognizing our need to learn and grow, our need to be fully conscious of who we are.  We cannot be here and not learn and grow.  We cannot be here and not begin to walk through fear.  We surrender to our learning process.  We surrender to the lessons themselves.  We are here to help each other learn.  When we open ourselves to that fact, our relationships becomes vehicle for healing.

    happy wed sweetie.

  • Fear is the cause of many chaos in this world. Instead of conquering and defeating people, why not learn to conquer and defeat our own fear, right… =D

  • Our emotions are like a thermometer, taking our temperatures and alerting us to the fact that we’re out of balance.  Certain emotions, like fear, do need to be conquered.  But first, they need to be recognized.  I agree that fear needs to be dismissed.  But it’s not totally without its uses.

So sad about Don leaving us.

  • Some say I have an anxiety disorder, I say I am scared of almost everything.   I like to think myself a christian; but I also think ‘fear’ denies God.  I am greatful that He accepts my humanity and my shortcomings. ~ mom
