  • Chocolate Overdose

When I first came to America, I was fascinated with many things including chocolates.  I was about 12 ½ years old and have never had chocolates before.  My first encountered with chocolates was Babyruth.  I asked my mom to buy me a package of Babyruth.   It came with six bars I think.  Anyway, on the way home from the grocery store, I ate all of the chocolate bars.   Yes, they were that good.  My stomach didn’t settle well with this indulgence.  (Overdose maybe a better word.)  I was so sick to my stomach.  I didn’t touch another chocolate bar for a long long time.  I guess one can call this “detachment from overdosing. ”

Do you remember the last time you completely detached from something you enjoy by overdosing it?

  • Yes, watching too much Chinese series movies.  I watched so much that I can predict the outcome of them all … hahaha.  One good thing did come out is I learn the many Chinese-Vietnamese terms like dai ca, su muoi, tau qua nham ma ….. lolz

  • Internet.

  • Oh yes, one Celine Dion cd was played on my pc, stereo, friends’, roommates for 1 whole semester.  I now develop a phobia of Celine Dion’s songs.  I cringe everytime I hear her voice.  lol…

  • I do this with chocolate and then I don’t eat it for months Judi

  • I did it with my favorite ice cream the other evening, Haagan Dazs, peanut butter and chocolate. I had been eating vegetarian for the first time in my life and really watching my calories so eating a quart of ice cream in one sitting really made me feel bad, but it sure tasted good going down. I have done this with so many things in my life. Balance, great word, unsure of the application though. lol

  • Afew years ago I did it with golf! We played three times a day for four days! It wore me out. I only played once on the fith day!

  • Yeah very well, avocado.  I stopped eating it since I was 11 years old.  I used to eat 6 a day, mashed them up, ice, and sugar.  Yummilicious until I realized I couldn’t eat the last scoop, and that was it.  No more avocado.

  • Wow…good question, haha.  Umm….I really can’t think of it, even though I know there has been some.  I guess I would say chocolate as well, any kind; around Easter or so, I usually eat a lot of it and get too sick (and disgusted, haha) by it to even want it until I find some really good chocolate a few months later.  In fact, I would say that I haven’t had a significant amount of chocolate since around Easter.  It’s a new tradition I guess, haha.

  • When I was quite little, I used to slip into my mother’s kitchen and steal sugar. One time the sugar bowl was empty, so a pulled my red wagon up to the cupboards and climbed onto the countertop so that I could get into the new bag of sugar that was stored on one of the upper shelves. I spilled it, of course. All over the counter and into the wagon. Mother emptied it all into the wagon, handed me a spoon and made me eat until my stomach hurt. I never stole sugar again.
