  • People are interesting.  We want a dog but get a cat.  So we spent years trying to train the cat to bark.  We stubbornly hope that one day the cat will learn how to bark.  Then one day, we tell the cat to bark and the cat looks at us and says, “Meow.”  We get disappointed thinking that the cat is the problem.  Some of us also get disappointed thinking that we are the problem too, that somehow something is wrong with us because we can not teach this cat how to bark.   How distorted this is.  What a waste of time and energy.

See reality for what it is and not for what you think it ought to be.

  • Interesting. I like what you had to say about the dog cat thing.

“See reality for what it is and not for what you think it ought to be.” hmmm. Well, this concept right here challenges the way i perceive the world because i do tend to always want to look at possibilites. Surely, you have to see reality for what it is for the time being so you know how far it is away from your “dream”… and see if your dream has a place in reality. If it has a place to materialize without disrupting the natural flow of things. But i wouldn’t abandon seeing the world for what you think it ought to be… otherwise, there is no prospect for change. There is a difference between not accepting reality and integrading it into your vision. What do you think?

Great Post Trim. I always enjoy your ponderings.

  • Funny post Trimtab. I have been reading you email have not got over here. Love to you, Judi

  • i wonder if the cat would bark if it loved us a little bit more…:)

  • If anything will teach you the futility of this, it is raising children. I don’t care what your fantasy is of how you want them to be, they will inevitably end up doing and being what they want and need to be. What an adventure!

  • very good post.. got me thinkin.
