  • Contemplating Life

Do you sometimes wonder where you come from at the instant of conception?  Do you sometimes have awareness that although you are on the road to somewhere, it feels like you are on the road to no-where?

We come from no where into now here at the instant of conception with just a spacing.  I guess Willie Nelson and Jack Kerouac aren’t the only ones “on the road again.” We’re all on the road.  Some of us actually think we are on the road to somewhere, that we know where we are going.  But sooner or later, we’ll find out that was just a strange conceit.  We can keep trying and keep getting distraught when our pictures of the future don’t match reality as it unfolds.  That’s the promise and disappointment we’ll find as long as we think we are going somewhere.

After you have been on the road for awhile, you realize that the road to somewhere leads to no where to now here.  The only difference is the spacing.  You realize that the road to now here doesn’t have a lot to do with anyone else.  It’s primarily about you.  It is the path to your own heart.  It leads to all your fears and self-deceptions to reveal the shining truth about yourself.  You realize that you show up to this world with no-thing and you are going to return with no-thing.  You can’t take one thing with you. The only thing you can do with your life is giving it away.

When we find a way to give, we find the purpose in life.  It doesn’t necessarily mean making contributions or giving things away.  It’s about finding a way to serve in some capacity.  It’s about asking the question what can I do to serve you? instead of what is in it for me?

    EDIT:

    Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you chelseathi for the sweet words and thought.

  • I like the part about the only thing you can do with your life is give it away.

  • Lovely thoughts, once again……you have a rare gift for seeing beyond the superficial….  ~Ann~

  • Good one, but if I don’t travel in circle, I wouldn’t know that I am travelling in circle.  Have a good weekend chi., since it’s mother’s day, that should be special for you.

  • I went through a lot of that pictures of what was to be and now I leave it to God what is to be.  It is enough to handle this day. Judi

  • I just wanted to come wish you the happiest of Mothers days : )

  • happy Mothers day! “It is in giving that we receive.”

  • Life is a grand adventure. I don’t think any of us really know where we are going till we get there. I think the surprise upon arrival is half the fun. But, I agree, it’s what we do in those moments along the road that matter. Bitchy, complaining, greedy, wining, never satisfied or happy, caring, compassionate, merciful and assisting other travelers as we go. It will be those moments that make up the journey. The destination is not the journey. It is just where we happen to end up in the end.

    Happy Mother’s Day

  • On the road, we learn about life, and the people in our society, including us.  Through interaction with people, we learn about ourselves.  What you said is true, though, I kinda don’t like the tone of the last sentence of 3rd paragraph.  It’s so dark, though it’s true, materialistically.  I’d like to think that we gain a knowledge of who we are in our life.  That’s something we weren’t born with, right?

    Happy Mother’s Day!!!

  • I love the new profile pic, happy moms day again to you.

  • Happy Mother’s day, I read Chelseathi’s site, very nice.  I hope you have a very blessed and joyous day.  God bless.  +

  • Happy Mothers Day!!!  I love this post and the cute profile picture, you have a great day!

  • That was sweet of Chelsea. =D

  • Great new picture!

I think this is an excellent insight into non-attachment. The best way to receive love is to give it…but that shouldn’t be the reason we give love! We should love because it is our nature.

  • I am in total agreement. Unfortunately and fortunately at the same time, I have learned that we indeed come into life with nothing and leave with nothing material. What is utimately left is the impressions we have made both good and bad.

  • I hope your Mother’s Day was wonderful, Judi
